Sooooo, how’ve ya been?

I’m glad you asked.:) Life is getting a bit more routine in the Laney household. A bit more predictable and the adjustment is a little better too.
I have been thinking a lot lately about Harbin’s birth and what a true miracle he is, as is every child. But with our history, it was especially special to me. I can remember when they actually brought him out, and he started crying, and I started crying, just to hear his little voice, FINALLY, and to know that he was healthy and well. I cried and Micah cried a bit with me as the relief hit me. I had waited so long for him to be here, to have another child. I had prayed over the delivery and myself, and Micah beforehand, speaking promises and truth. It was amazing how He answered. There was such peace all the way leading up to his arrival. Although I was in pain from my incision, I felt great on my drugs and wasn’t sick at all, as I was with Haven.
Then as we left the hospital to go home, there was a full rainbow in the sky. It was beautiful and just a reminder of God’s promises…..so on that note, I miss being pregnant. Not to say that I am in any way considering having another at this moment, but I just miss it. I miss feeling him move around, wearing maternity clothes, everything that goes with it. (except heartburn and sleepless nights) But a dear, best friend of mine is expecting and I am so excited for her! AND my sister in law is, so I guess I can get my ‘pregnancy fix’ through them for now.:)
Haven is doing well. She got a progress report for her semester. (I didn’t realize they did this for pre-K, so it was quite a shock) but she got all ‘S’, which means satisfactory, so she is doing well and we are so proud of how she is growing into quite the young lady. I think she is growing up a bit and growing out of her little attitude phase, although, I feel with her personality, she will always have those days….
Harbin is good–growing and getting bigger too. At the moment, we are trying to decide weather to let him ‘cry it out’ during nap times, or wait until he is 3 months to do that. As of right now, it isn’t working too well. He cries for about 45 minutes and finally falls asleep, only to immediately wake back up again. I think maybe he is too young, but not too sure. Anyone reading this and has any advice, that would be great! I didn’t do it with Haven, and her nap times now are pretty much non-existent, but I think with her personality, it really wouldn’t have worked too well anyway. Who knows. But Harbin is such the little man and we are so proud of him. God is truly good and we pray that Harbin grows to become a bright warrior for the Lord.
Until next update, be blessed!
Kara

Me and the Mall Walkers

Today I dropped Haven off at school and went to the mall (at 8:30) to walk. There were many ‘mall walkers’ just like me, many older, like my grandmother’s age, or a bit younger. The sad thing was, many people were passing me, and I was the youngest one!! I could tell that I am not in the best of shape, especially when I get passed WALKING. But I am trying to get a bit of exercise the only way I am allowed to until my 6 week post-partum check up…….
In other news, Grey’s was finally not a re run last night and I can’t help but talk about the fact that George’s dad died and Christina runs out and says, basically ‘I know what you are going through..my dad died when I was 9, and there’s a club for people like us. Welcome to the dead dad’s club’. It was meant to be very encouraging to poor George, but I thought it was lame. I don’t know of too many people that would go up to someone, right after the passing of a loved one mind you, and say ‘welcome to the club’. Weird. Other than that, great show as always!
Harbin’s fussy. Off I go. Hopefully it won’t snow too much this weekend. I don’t know if I can take another full weekend inside the house. 🙂

Blahg

That’s about how I feel right now with this whole blog thing….blah. Just the fact that every time I sit down to try and post something, nothing comes to me. I guess I could post my daily routine thus far:
holding Harbin
feeding Harbin
changing Harbin
telling Haven ‘no’
playing with Haven
cleaning
walking with Harbin to calm him all the while vacuuming to soothe his crying
almost forgetting to close and lock the front door on our frenzied way out the door for school yesterday.
crying on Micah’s shoulder b.c of hormones and sleep deprivation
I must admit, I truly miss my husband being home, and not just b.c I love his company, but b.c he was a HUGE help to me. He truly is my other half…strength and a rock…just as Christ is for His body, Micah is to me as a husband. I LOVE YOU!!
I know this too shall pass, and I want to try and enjoy every minute of it, just seems like my life is a bit crazy lately and there isn’t much time to blog about it.:) But I will try and at least post new pictures every once in awhile.
His appointment went good and he is almost 8 pounds now, so he is eating well.:) Praise the Lord!

My husband is kicking my tail in regards to posti…

My husband is kicking my tail in regards to posting lately. I guess since he’s been home, it’s been a bit easier. He is 29 today and got to stay home on his birthday b.c of the weather here. (ice last night and then snow a little today)HAPPY BIRTHDAY Micah–I love you!
Haven and I made him brownies and chocolate icing from scratch today. AND I was pretty proud of myself, I didn’t spaz when Haven made a mess with the sugar on the floor, the flour on her clothes and the constant licking of the spoon, bowl, ect. 🙂 It was quite fun.
Has anyone ever heard of ‘nesting’ after the baby is born? It seems I am obsessed with keeping the house cleaned, doing dishes, laundry, ect. which I never really have done. (to this extent-even right before he was born)
I feel like I always ‘have’ to stay busy–maybe b.c I’ll fall asleep if I don’t do something constantly. Or maybe b.c I am an ‘on-the-go’ kind of girl.:)
I joined Weight Watchers with my mom and aunt. We are actually going to the meetings together and so far (we just had our first one last Thursday) it’s been good. I have a ways to go, but I am going to try to enjoy it and make a ‘lifestyle’ change in my eating habits along with it.
Oh, and here’s the Harbster. He is getting quite big. We had to reschedule our appointment for him today b.c of the weather, so if anyone cares, I will try and post his stats, ect. after we see the DR. on Wednesday.
WOW, sorry for the long post, but felt I needed to update a bit, however, this is about as big as all my hubby’s posts combined from the past few weeks.:)

Life is a Highway…

or something like that. I feel like that lately, being sleep deprived, forgetting things that I normally wouldn’t forget.
We are doing good though. Harbin is doing well with his schedule and his formula. (I felt that after a week of nursing, that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the demand of Harbin and a 4-year old Haven:)) We are all much happier and enjoying feeding times a lot more these days.
Haven is enjoying school and we are enjoying her getting back into her routine as well. She is doing much better and adjusting better since Harbin has come. We are so THANKFUL!:) She is great with him and very gentle and sweet. She is so protective of him even now.
Micah has been a huge help. He goes back to work on Monday, his 29th birthday. I think he is excited to get back into the swing of things too and have conversations that don’t consist of poop, sleep schedules, ect. but I know it will be hard too, since he’s been gone since December 23rd.
I have included a few pictures since it’s been forever (it seems) since I have blogged and my cousin specifically requested more pictures, so here you go my Erin.

One Week Old

Today, Harbin is one week old. So, we have more pics.:) The first one Haven was just cute. The second is with my grandparents. Harbin is their 13th great grandchild! And the third, Harbin.
He also had his first doctor’s appointment. He is healthy, praise the Lord, and doing well. He has lost a little, which is normal, but is doing good. We are so blessed and thankful.
